20/21 Grace Church Holiday Bazaar

20 Choral Concert

Grace Episcopal Church. 110 North Church Street Berryville, Virginia. 7:30pm. This concert honors the 150th anniversary of the ending of the Civil War featuring four Civil War poems of Walt Whitman with choral settings of psalms and spirituals. The Vocal Consort, a 24-voice choir from within the larger Arts Chorale of Winchester premiere’s the 15th Season’ works. Saturday, Nov. 21, the full chorale performs at Grace Evangelical Lutheran church (26 West Boscawen Street) in Winchester VA at 8pm and on Sun. 21 Berryville Turkey Trot Races

Clarke County High School. 627 Mosby Boulevard, Berryville. 37th running of the Turkey Trot races, 2, 4, or 6 miles, for area runners and walkers. Overall and age group awards as well as frozen turkeys given away in random drawings after the races are all part of the fun. Registration/packet pick up: 8:45 to 9:45am. Four and six mile races begin at 10am. Two-mile at 10:10am. Pre-registration and race day entry for students: $10. $13 for all others until November 20th. Race day entry is $15. Marcolivia Duo. Barns of Rose Hill. 95 Chalmers Ct., Berryville. The Marc Ramirez and Olivia Hajioff form the award-winning violin and violin/viola duo Marcolivia. The Marcolivia Duo appears frequently on NPR’s “Performance Today” and “Front Row Washington”. They are regular guest artists at the Tokyo College of Music, Japan, and have performed for the Federal Reserve Board in Washington DC, at the Cosmos Club, and annually at the Phillips Collection (where they are included on several CDs of Series Highlights and Distinguished Performers). Bruce Molsky has been dubbed “one of America’s premier fiddling talents” by Mother Jones, and is a twice Grammy nominated artist on fiddle, banjo, guitar and song. He’s learned directly from renowned musicians Tommy Jarrell and Albert Hash, two of his mentors in the Blue Ridge Mountains. 830 Long Branch Lane. Millwood, a special tour of the home at 5pm. The house will be decorated in the theme “A Jazz Age Christmas.” The tour will give the history of the home while focusing on Christmas traditions of the Roaring Twenties. Hot mulled cider and cookies will be provided. Toys For Tots donations accepted throughout November and December. Together, they are an old-time music dream. Dirk Powell has expanded on the deeply rooted sounds of his Appalachian heritage to become one of the preeminent traditional American musicians of his generation. Riley Baugus, a North Carolina native who lives in Walkertown, began singing and playing music at an early age. Raised in a household where recordings of old-time music were often played, he developed a love and appreciation for traditional southern Appalachian music. Riley has played with numerous old-time string bands, including the Red Hots, Backstep, and Old Hollow Stringband.
